With Royal Caribbean I knew I could expect good things. What I actually found were great things – onboard Ovation of the Seas. On arriving at Southampton port, I saw this majestic ship towering over the dock. I couldn’t wait to board. Being one of the first passengers aboard this fine vessel was indeed a real treat. I was bowled over. The grandeur, the décor, the wonderfully helpful staff. Every detail had been carefully considered for our comfort and enjoyment. We began with a tour of the ship. It’s sheer size was almost overwhelming – 15 decks with every high tech modern convenience you could imagine – and some you couldn’t! A Robotic Bar anyone?
Two complete decks were dedicated to the most beautiful solarium I had ever seen. Topped by a glass roof, this is a truly luxurious space to stretch out and relax with a treat from the juice bar, or to burn a few calories on the high spec training equipment.
The choice onboard was staggering! More than 20 restaurants, from casual dining to more formal fare. Bars galore, both inside and outside, each with their own unique atmosphere. A theatre, a casino, roller rink, Xbox hub, bumper cars, high end shopping and numerous pools. Adult only pools for a bit of peace and quiet, or family fun pools for family fun. Imagine yourself flying above the sea in the skydiving simulator or surfing on the wave pool. The cherry on top of this ship’s cake must be the North Star. This viewing pod rises 300 feet into the air, giving jaw dropping views you could only have imagined. So much to do, so much choice whatever your age or inclination. It will take more than this blog to share my once in a lifetime experience on Ovation of the Sea. Catch up on my next blog where I’ll be sharing more of the fun.
